Ads

Audiences from segments and prospects for Meta and Google; the allowed path for people without opt-in.

Ads is where prospects become useful. A prospect may not receive your newsletter, but a hashed customer list on Meta or Google may show them an ad and bring them to a page with a double opt-in. Segments of confirmed contacts become lookalike seeds.

Step by step

  1. 1
    Build an audience
Pick a segment or the prospect pool. Addresses are normalised and hashed (SHA-256) the way the platforms expect; the list is exported for upload.
  2. 2
    Upload
Meta: Audiences → Customer list. Google: Audience manager → Customer match. Keep the audience name identical to the segment name so attribution reads cleanly.
  3. 3
    Close the loop
Send the ad to a landing page with the tracker and a form; the click ID travels into the list, and the contact arrives as pending or confirmed.

Watch out

  • Platforms require that the people on a customer list had a relationship with you or consented to marketing. Purchased lists breach their terms as well as yours; use them for research, not uploads.
